SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA — The Richard Bland College Men's Soccer team battled throughout but came up short in a 1-4 setback to Louisburg College on Friday afternoon at Willcox Field. With the result, the Statesmen stand at 4-3-2 overall and 1-3-2 in Region 10 play.
Richard Bland found its breakthrough in the 21st minute when sophomore forward Victor Manuel finished off a setup from Bruno Gregor, giving the Statesmen their lone goal of the match. RBC continued to apply pressure across both halves, generating 18 total shots with 11 on frame while also earning five corner kicks.
Goalkeeper Owen Stahl registered three saves in the contest, helping the Statesmen hold firm defensively after the opening period.
Despite controlling much of the offensive flow, Richard Bland was unable to cut further into the deficit, with multiple chances narrowly missing the target.
The Statesmen will return to Willcox Field on Wednesday, October 8th for a 1pm match with the Patriots of Patrick & Henry Community College.
