Statesmen Battle Through Georgia Road Swing

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA — The Richard Bland College men's basketball team completed a two-game road swing through Georgia this weekend, falling 67-85 at East Georgia State on Saturday before dropping a 60-78 contest to South Georgia Technical College on Sunday.

RBC opened the trip at East Georgia State, where a cold first half created a steep climb. Despite trailing 24-50 at the break, the Statesmen responded with a much stronger second half, outscoring the Bobcats 43–35 behind sharper ball movement and more consistent perimeter shooting.

Andy Ramirez led the charge with a dynamic 20-point performance that included three threes, strong slashing, and timely defensive plays. Doyle Brown added 13 points with three made triples, while Jermaine Coston Jr. delivered a powerful effort inside, posting a 10-point, 12-rebound outing for one of his most complete performances of the year.

Jahi Bowden served as the team's engine in the backcourt, finishing with 11 points and six assists, and Jude Angervil provided a spark off the bench with 7 points and 6 rebounds, helping RBC win several hustle categories in the second half.

On Sunday against South Georgia Tech, the Statesmen faced physical opponent. South Georgia Tech jumped ahead early with a strong 27-45 first half, but the Statesmen answered with a competitive finish, matching the Jets point-for-point over the final 20 minutes.

Ramirez again set the tone offensively, scoring 14 points and grabbing eight rebounds, while Aleksandar Bihler turned in one of his most efficient games of the season with 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Brown added 11 points, and Bowden stayed perfect from deep, knocking down all three of his three-point attempts for 9 points.

Angervil stayed consistent off the bench, producing 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists, while the Statesmen knocked down 12 threes as a team and generated 16 assists.

Richard Bland now returns home to Statesman Hall, looking to regroup and carry the competitive energy from the road trip into its upcoming game on Wednesday, December 10th against Camp Community College. Tipoff is set for 7pm, following the women's game at 5pm.
