Statesmen Control the Paint in Win Over CCBC Catonsville

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA — Richard Bland College gutted out a hard-fought 70–64 home victory over CCBC Catonsville on Wednesday night, riding dominant rebounding, clutch free-throw shooting, and a pair of standout double-double performances to secure the win.

RBC was powered by standout performances from its frontcourt duo. Jermaine Coston Jr. delivered a commanding effort with 15 points, 20 rebounds, and 6 steals while going 9-for-10 at the free-throw line. Playing all 40 minutes, he set the tone with toughness on both ends of the floor. Alongside him, Andy Ramirez posted a game-high 25 points with 11 rebounds and 5 assists, providing consistent scoring and playmaking as the Statesmen battled through a tight contest.

The backcourt added critical support, led by Doyle Brown's 14 points, three assists, and two steals. Off the bench, Jahi Bowden supplied a major spark with nine points and a team-high nine assists, while contributing three steals to RBC's relentless defensive pressure. The Statesmen forced 18 steals on the night and converted 26-of-38 free throws to maintain control despite shooting struggles from beyond the arc.

After carrying a narrow 27–25 lead into halftime, the Statesmen found another gear in the second half, outscoring Catonsville 43–39 and maintaining composure in the final minutes.

Richard Bland (3–2) will look to carry the momentum into their next matchup on Wednesday, December 3rd at home against Wake Technical Community College, following completion of the 5pm women's game. The conference opener is featured as a "Guard The Grove" game and all Statesmen fans are encouraged to come out and show out during the Black Out!
