SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA — The Richard Bland College women's volleyball team wrapped up its 2025 campaign this weekend, advancing to the Region 10 Semifinals after defeating Cleveland Community College in the quarterfinals before falling to Fayetteville Technical Community College on Saturday afternoon.
On Friday, Richard Bland opened tournament play with a strong four-set victory (23–25, 25–22, 25–13, 25–14) over Cleveland Community College, showcasing efficient offense and balanced production across the lineup.
Taelin Connolley led the way with 17 kills on a .433 hitting percentage and added 19 digs for a dominant two-way performance. Gabrielle Meador followed with 10 kills and hit .304, while Rachel Pickens and Braelyn Boyd combined for 14 more kills to keep the Statesmen in rhythm.
Setter Kaylie Klemm dished out 28 assists, and Rachelle Martin guided the back row with 12 assists and 5 digs. Defensively, the team totaled 7 solo blocks and 9 block assists, while serving proved to be a difference-maker — RBC tallied 13 aces.
As a team, Richard Bland hit .245 overall, including .304 in the opening set and .257 in the third to take control of the match.
In the Region 10 Semifinals, Richard Bland pushed top-seeded Fayetteville Tech to four tight sets before falling 31–29, 16–25, 24–26, 23–25 in a highly competitive battle.
Connolley once again powered the attack, posting a career-best 28 kills on .310 hitting to go along with 27 digs. Meador chipped in 9 kills and 9 digs, while Aliyah Millner added 7 kills on a .353 clip.
Klemm and Martin anchored the offense with a combined 41 assists, while Kristen Mathes led the back row with 44 digs. Ava Ginn provided energy at the service line with 3 aces and 2 blocks, and Daniela Sardina contributed 12 digs and 2 aces of her own.
The Statesmen finished with 60 kills and 111 digs.
Richard Bland's 2025 season (20-6 overall, 9-2 conference) featured standout performances across the board — highlighted by All-Region honors for Taelin Connolley (First Team), Kristen Mathes and Gabrielle Meador (Second Team), and Marisa Furner (Honorable Mention) — showcasing the program's continued growth and competitive foundation heading into 2026.
