No. 18 Statesmen Dominate at Home, Prep for Region Tournament

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA — The No. 18 Richard Bland College Women's Volleyball team continued its late-season surge with back-to-back sweeps over Louisburg College and Lenoir Community College on October 15–16 at Statesman Hall. The two straight-set victories extend RBC's momentum as the Statesmen move closer to postseason play.

On Wednesday night, the Statesmen handled Louisburg in commanding fashion (25–15, 25–14, 25–19). Sophomore Taelin Connolley led the way with 15 kills and five service aces, totaling 22 points, while Gabrielle Meador added nine kills on a .467 hitting percentage. Setter Kaylie Klemm dished out 24 assists and served four aces, while Kristen Mathes anchored the defense with 21 digs. RBC hit .248 as a team and controlled the match from start to finish to secure their first sweep of the week.

The following night, RBC carried that energy into a strong performance against Lenoir, winning 25–14, 25–21, 25–14. Connolley once again paced the offense with 11 kills, while Braelyn Boyd tallied nine kills and a team-high 15 assists in a versatile showing. Meador continued her efficient play with eight kills at a .417 clip, and Mathes turned in another stellar defensive effort with 22 digs. The Statesmen posted a .271 hitting percentage and tallied nine service aces in another complete team victory.

With the two home wins, Richard Bland improves its overall record and strengthens its Region 10 standing heading into the final stretch of the season. The Statesmen will look to keep their momentum rolling as they begin postseason play next week.

Richard Bland will begin the Region 10 Tournament with an opening round bye. The Statesmen will compete Friday, October 31^st. If they win, they will advance in play to Saturday, November 1^st with a chance to compete for their fourth straight Region title.
