SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA — The Richard Bland College Men's Soccer team delivered a commanding offensive performance on Friday afternoon, rolling to a 7-1 win over Prince George's Community College at Willcox Field. With the result, the Statesmen improved to 6-3-2 overall and 2-3-2 in Region 10 play.
The Statesmen dominated from the opening whistle, scoring four first-half goals to seize full control. Naor Suarez opened the scoring in the 15th minute off a setup from Bruno Gregor, who quickly doubled the lead five minutes later with a strike assisted by Cornelious Appiah Oppong. Gregor added his second of the day in the 30th minute before assisting Bayly Wright's goal in the 40th, capping a 4-0 halftime advantage.
Richard Bland continued its attacking rhythm in the second half. Reece Black connected in the 62nd minute on a pass from Caleb Muluneh, while Ian MacArthur extended the lead to 6-0 in the 78th minute with help from Elijah Marks. Prince George's managed its lone goal in the 85th minute, but the Statesmen answered just seconds later as Marks found the back of the net, assisted by MacArthur, to round out the 7-1 scoreline.
Gregor headlined the day with two goals and two assists, while Suarez, Wright, Black, MacArthur, and Marks each found the back of the net. Muluneh, Appiah Oppong, and MacArthur also contributed assists in a balanced team effort that saw 11 shots on goal and nine corner kicks.
Goalkeeper Owen Stahl anchored the back line, recording two saves while facing just three total shots.
Currently, the following individuals are ranked in the top five of their respective stat categories for Region 10 DII Men's Soccer:
- Bruno Gregor: #4 in Assists with four
- Owen Stahl: #1 in Saves with 113, #2 in Save Percentage with .863, #4 in Goals-Against Average with 1.64
The Statesmen will return to action on Friday, October 17th against USC Sumter. Kickoff is set for 11am at Willcox Field.
