Statesmen Rally Late to Earn 2-2 Draw Against Wake Tech

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA —The Richard Bland College Men's Soccer team delivered a gritty second-half performance on Monday afternoon, erasing a two-goal deficit to earn a 2-2 draw at Willcox Field. The result pushes the Statesmen to 4-2-2 overall and 1-2-2 in Region 10 play.

After falling behind early, the Statesmen showed their resilience with a dominant second half, generating 11 total shots, including six on target. Their persistence paid off in the 75th minute when sophomore midfielder Naor Suarez calmly converted a penalty kick to spark the comeback. Ten minutes later, the crowd erupted as sophomore forward Bruno Gregor buried a second penalty from the spot to bring the match level at 2-2.

The Statesmen continued to control the run of play down the stretch, creating multiple scoring opportunities while also holding strong defensively. Goalkeeper Owen Stahl finished with four saves, securing the result.

Richard Bland also held the edge on set pieces, earning eight corner kicks as part of their sustained offensive pressure.

The Statesmen will return to Willcox Field on Friday, October 3rd for another Region 10 showdown against Louisburg College. Kickoff is set for 2pm.
