Clean Sheet Lifts Statesmen Past Sea Devils

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA — The Richard Bland College Men's Soccer team bounced back in strong fashion Friday afternoon, shutting out Cape Fear Community College 3-0 on the road. With the win, the Statesmen improve to 4-2 overall and 1-2 in Region 10 play.

Richard Bland seized early control, striking twice in the opening half. Sophomore forward Bruno Gregor opened the scoring in the 20th minute off a setup from Naor Suarez, before Reece Black doubled the advantage in the 35th minute, also assisted by Suarez. The Statesmen capped the scoring late in the second half when Ian MacArthur connected on a feed from Hayden Bright in the 85th minute to seal the road victory.

The Statesmen attack generated six total shots, five on goal, and earned 10 corner kicks while keeping Cape Fear under pressure throughout the match. RBC's defense was equally dominant as goalkeeper Owen Stahl anchored the back line with six saves, recording his third clean sheet of the season.

Richard Bland will look to continue the momentum when they return to action Friday, September 26th, traveling to Patrick & Henry Community College for another Region 10 contest. Kickoff is set for 5pm in Martinsville, VA.
