SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA — The Richard Bland College Men's Soccer team dropped its second straight conference match Monday afternoon, falling 1-5 to Louisburg College on the road. With the result, the Statesmen move to 3-2 overall and 0-2 in Region 10 play.
Louisburg set the tone early, finding the back of the net three times in the opening half to take firm control of the match. The Statesmen broke through in the 60th minute when sophomore forward Victor Manuel converted a penalty kick to put RBC on the board. The Hurricanes added two more goals after the break, stretching their lead to four.
Richard Bland generated steady pressure, tallying 15 total shots, eight on frame, and 13 corner kicks, but were unable to close the gap.
Goalkeeper Owen Stahl recorded five saves while playing the full 90 minutes, helping limit Louisburg's attack in the second half.
Richard Bland will look to regroup at on the road on Friday, September 19th, when they travel to Cape Fear Community College. Kickoff is scheduled for 2pm in Castle Hayne, NC.
