Bihler Drops 29, Statesmen Fall on the Road at Brunswick
SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA — Richard Bland Men's Basketball battled early but could not keep pace with a strong second half from Brunswick Community College, falling 63-81 on the road January 30.
The Statesmen stayed within striking distance through the first half, trailing just 23-27 at the break. Brunswick pulled away after halftime, outscoring Richard Bland 40-54 in the second half to secure the win.
Aleksandar Bihler led Richard Bland offensively with a game-high 29 points on an efficient 9-of-14 shooting performance. He added six rebounds and knocked down two three-pointers while going 9-of-10 from the free throw line.
Andy Ramirez filled the stat sheet with a triple-double performance, finishing with 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists, along with three steals. Doyle Brown added 10 points and four steals, while Jermaine Coston Jr. contributed eight points and seven rebounds.
As a team, Richard Bland shot 38.5% from the field and 73.9% from the free throw line. The Statesmen recorded 20 assists and forced 16 Brunswick turnovers but were outrebounded 31-38 and allowed Brunswick to shoot 44.6% from the field.
With the loss, the Statesmen move to 6-8 overall and 2-4 in conference play.
The Statesmen will next travel to Wake Technical Community College on Wednesday, February 4th for a 6pm conference contest with the Eagles.
