RBC Splits Pair of Games; Falls to USC Salkehatchie and Edges Denmark Tech in Thriller

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA — The Richard Bland College men's basketball team experienced a weekend of highs and lows, dropping a tough game to USC Salkehatchie before rallying for a thrilling 83-82 victory over Denmark Technical College.

The Statesmen fell behind early as USC Salkehatchie stormed out to a 28-43 first-half lead. RBC outscored the Indians 36-35 in the second half but could not overcome the deficit.

Jermaine Coston Jr. and Doyle Brown each led RBC with 15 points, while Jude Angervil added 14 points and eight rebounds. Andy Ramirez contributed 10 points and seven assists. RBC shot 40.4% from the field and 33.3% from three-point range.

On Saturday, the Statesmen bounced back in dramatic fashion, edging Denmark Technical College 83-82. Doyle Brown exploded for 31 points on 13-of-23 shooting, adding five rebounds and three assists.

Jermaine Coston Jr. recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Emmanuel Vonhm contributed 13 points and seven boards. RBC shot 47.8% from the field and connected on 55.6% of their three-pointers in the narrow victory.

As the season intensifies, the Statesmen continue to define themselves—one possession, one response, one win at a time.

Richard Bland, 5-7 overall and 1-3 in conference, returns to action on Saturday, January 24^th at 4pm in Statesman Hall against the Cobras of Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute. The next day, the Statesmen will host Brunswick Community College at 2pm.
