Statesmen Claim Game Two, Fall in Series to Robeson Diamond Eagles

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA — The Richard Bland College Baseball team showed resilience across a three-game series against Robeson Community College but ultimately fell in the set, 1-2, over the weekend at the Petersburg Sports Complex. The Statesmen move to 13-26 overall and 9-21 in conference play.

In game one, Robeson took control early, using a seven-run first inning to cruise to a 2-12 victory. The Diamond Eagles added insurance late while limiting the Statesmen to just two hits. Richard Bland broke through in the fifth inning, highlighted by a RBI double from Myles Holmes and a RBI groundout by Carson Seely, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome.

The Statesmen responded in game two with a strong all-around performance, earning a 6-2 win to even the series. A five-run fourth inning provided the spark, as Vincent Howald led the charge with a double and later added a triple, finishing with a key RBI. Austin McGraw drove in two runs, while Cam Lamb contributed a RBI knock. On the mound, Charlie Hogan was dominant, tossing six shutout innings with six strikeouts to secure the win.

In the rubber match, both offenses came alive in a high-scoring battle, but Robeson pulled away late for an 11-18 win. Richard Bland rallied early, plating five runs in the third inning and adding two more in the fourth to build momentum. Carson Seely led the offense with three RBI, while Cam Lamb added a home run and two RBI. Sam Gupta also went deep as part of RBC's 11-hit effort. However, defensive miscues and Robeson's power surge, which included multiple home runs, allowed the visitors to regain control and seal the series.

Richard Bland will look to regroup as they continue conference play on the road on Wednesday, April 15^th at Bryant & Stratton College (VA).
