Bobcats Pull Away from Statesmen in Midweek Matchup

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA — The Richard Bland College Baseball team dropped a 1-7 decision to Bryant & Stratton College (VA) on Wednesday afternoon at Petersburg Sports Complex.

Bryant & Stratton struck first in the opening inning and used a three-run fourth inning to create separation, never looking back. The Bobcats added insurance runs in the sixth, eighth, and ninth to secure the road victory.

The Statesmen found their lone run in the third inning when Lucas De Cordova came around to score on a sacrifice fly by Henry Stewart. Despite the early response, RBC was unable to generate sustained offense, finishing with four hits on the day.

Carson Seely led the Statesmen at the plate, going 2-for-4, while Cam Lamb and De Cordova each added a hit. Stewart accounted for the team's only RBI.

On the mound, Hayden Black took the loss, allowing four runs (three earned) over 3.2 innings while striking out four. The bullpen saw appearances from Ryan Paul, Brady Page, Michael Keyes, and David Smith, combining for 5.1 innings of relief work.

Richard Bland (12-24, 8-19) will look to bounce back as they continue conference play this weekend when they host Robeson Community College on Saturday, April 11th in a 2pm doubleheader, and a single game on Sunday, April 12th at 1pm.
