Baseball Explodes for 16 Runs in Win Over Allegany College of Maryland

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA — Richard Bland College powered past Allegany College of Maryland 16-6 Friday at Ironbridge Sports Park, using a dominant fifth inning and strong all-around offensive performance to secure the victory.
RBC finished with 11 hits and aggressively pressured the basepaths, swiping 12 stolen bases while putting together timely extra-base hits throughout the game.
Taloa Moefaauo led the offensive charge, going 3-for-4 with a home run and two doubles. The big performance highlighted a decisive 12-run fifth inning that broke the game open for the Statesmen.
During the fifth, Richard Bland strung together clutch at-bats, including a two-run double from Henry Stewart, an RBI single from Vincent Howald, a sacrifice fly from Rhett Boyer, and a grand slam to center field from Donavan Johnson. Moefaauo's two-run homer capped the explosive frame.
The Trojans struck first in the opening inning, but RBC answered immediately when Boyer drove in the tying run. The Statesmen took control in the second inning as Moefaauo and Sam Gupta each delivered RBI hits to push RBC ahead 3-1. After ACM briefly reclaimed the lead in the third, Richard Bland settled in defensively and took full command late.
Nate Riggs earned the win in relief, allowing just one unearned run with six strikeouts across three innings. Black started for RBC, allowing one run over two innings while striking out four. Smith added a scoreless relief inning to help seal the victory.
Stewart added a perfect 4-for-4 performance at the plate, while Johnson drove in a team-high five runs. Gupta and Moefaauo each recorded multi-hit games as RBC's lineup produced from top to bottom.
With the win, the Statesmen move to 1-1 overall. Richard Bland next travels Wake Technical Community College on Wednesday, February 11th. First pitch is scheduled for 3pm.
