Statesmen Volleyball Adds Jaina Leek to Coaching Staff

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA — Richard Bland College Athletics has announced the addition of Jaina Leek as Assistant Volleyball Coach, bringing a high-level former collegiate setter and emerging coach to the Statesmen volleyball program.

The Williamsburg, Virginia native joins Richard Bland College after a standout four-year playing career as a setter at the University of Lynchburg, where she competed as a varsity student-athlete from 2022 to 2025. During her career, she totaled 1,500 assists and 500 digs, while playing a pivotal role in Lynchburg's rise from a No. 240 national ranking into the top 50—a testament to both her on-court leadership and competitive impact.

"We're thrilled to add Jaina to our coaching staff," said Head Coach, Jonathan Amaral. "She brings a deep understanding of the setter position, strong volleyball IQ, and firsthand experience helping elevate a program at the national level."

Leek also brings two years of club coaching experience with Heart of Virginia Volleyball, where she assisted in leading a 17s regional team. Her responsibilities included practice planning, in-game decision-making, tournament travel, and athlete development. In addition, she completed a coaching practicum with the University of Lynchburg volleyball program, assisting with recruiting efforts, scouting reports, equipment coordination, and team organization.

Academically, Leek holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology from the University of Lynchburg and is currently pursuing her Master's Degree in Coaching and Athletic Education, further strengthening her ability to support student-athletes through evidence-based training and holistic development.

Beyond collegiate and club volleyball, Leek has coached youth camps, clinics, and leagues across Virginia, while remaining active in community service through volunteer work with the Lynchburg Humane Society.

Leek will begin her role immediately as the Statesmen continue preparations for the upcoming Beach season.
