Four Statesmen Earn Region 10 DII All-Region Volleyball Honors
SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA — The Region 10 Division II All-Region teams have been announced, and four Richard Bland College volleyball players have earned recognition for their performances this season. Taelin Connolley was named to the First Team, while Kristen Mathes and Gabrielle Meador earned Second Team honors, and Marisa Furner received Honorable Mention distinction.
Connolley has been a force on the attack, leading the Statesmen with 363 kills (4.27 per set) and a .280 hitting percentage, while adding 354 digs, 50 aces, and 40 total blocks. The sophomore outside hitter is averaging 5.2 points per set, ranking among the region's top offensive players.
Mathes has anchored the Statesmen defense, recording 485 digs (5.71 per set) to lead the team, while providing consistency and energy in the back row.
Meador has been a steady two-way presence, posting 203 kills (.267) with 28 total blocks and 23 service aces, contributing in all phases of play.
Furner has made a major impact at the net, registering 75 kills in 19 matches played, a team-best 102 total blocks, and a .306 hitting percentage, earning Honorable Mention recognition.
Under first year head coach Jonathan Amaral, the Statesmen have compiled a 19-5 overall record and 9-2 mark in Region 10 play, remaining one of the top teams in the conference as postseason action approaches.
The Statesmen finished the regular season as the 3rd seed heading into the Region Tournament. They will face 6th seed, Cleveland Community College in the Region Quarterfinals on Friday, October 31st at 6pm.
