Wills Named USTFCCCA/NJCAA National Athlete of the Week
Congratulations to Heaven Wills on being named USTFCCCA/NJCAA National Athlete of the Week for women's indoor track & field. Wills broke the RBC women's 60 Meter indoor record in her first outing of the season over the weekend, while also qualifying for TWO National events in the 60 Meters and 200 Meters!
Wills had fast dashes in two meets over the weekend as she sits atop the NJCAA Indoor 60-meter list.
She was at her fastest in Friday's Marlin First Chance Meet at the Virginia Beach Sports Center. After easily winning her heat in 7.60, she set a PR in the final a time of 7.52 that gave her runner-up honors with the year's fastest time. Willis later won her section of the 200 in a PR 24.84 that placed her fourth overall and put her No. 2 on the NJCAA seasonal list.
Two days later Wills was in the blocks again for the 60 at the Shenandoah Holiday Kickoff Open in Winchester, Virginia, where she led a 1-2-3 sweep of Richard Bland athletes with a time of 7.67 that matched her effort from the prelims.
This is the first time that an athlete from Richard Bland has been named M-F Athletic National Athlete of the Week during the indoor season.
