Statesmen Battle Through Challenging Road Stretch Against USC Lancaster and Cape Fear, Prep for Region 10 Semifinals

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA — The Richard Bland College Women's Soccer team faced a demanding two-match road swing this past week, falling to USC Lancaster (0-6) on Wednesday and Cape Fear Community College (0-4) on Saturday. Despite the results, the Statesmen showed continued resilience and growth, with standout defensive and goalkeeping performances throughout the week.

At USC Lancaster, Richard Bland worked to slow down an aggressive Lancers offense that tallied three goals in each half. Sophomore goalkeeper Allyson Klotz anchored the defense, while Rhianna Pena led the charge offensively, posting a team-high three shots — all on goal. Hailey Gradiska added another shot on target as the Statesmen battled to create chances on the counterattack.

Three days later, the Statesmen continued their road campaign at Cape Fear. Facing one of the Region 10's top attacking teams, Richard Bland stayed composed under pressure behind the efforts of goalkeeper Allyson Klotz, who recorded nine saves in a full 90-minute effort. Offensively, Jade Perkins created multiple opportunities with two shots on goal, while Pena again tested the opposing keeper.

With the regular season complete, the Statesmen now turn their attention to the Region 10 Semifinals, which they will host at Willcox Field on Wednesday at 2pm as the No. 2 seed. Richard Bland will face No. 3 Wake Tech Community College, with a spot in the Region 10 Championship on the line, at No. 1 seeded Cape Fear Community College on Saturday.
