Estrada Leads Statesmen in Road Loss at Fayetteville Tech

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA — Richard Bland College women's basketball dropped a 45-64 decision on the road at Fayetteville Technical Community College on Tuesday night.

Fayetteville Tech jumped out early, leading 7–17 after the first quarter and maintained control throughout the contest. Richard Bland battled defensively and showed flashes of momentum, but struggled to find consistency from the field, shooting 28.6% overall and 18.8% from three-point range.

Freshman Leila Estrada led the Statesmen with a team-high 13 points, knocking down three shots from beyond the arc. Hazel Veloz added eight points, while Grace Riggs chipped in seven.

On the glass, Laniah Thornton provided a strong interior presence, finishing with nine rebounds, along with six points and two assists. Arianna Zepeda contributed across the stat sheet with five assists, three rebounds, and four points, while Jessica Reese recorded four steals to pace RBC defensively.

Despite forcing 27 Trojan turnovers and collecting 12 steals as a team, RBC was unable to convert enough opportunities to close the gap.

Richard Bland College moves to 3–11 overall and 2–8 in conference play. The Statesmen are set to host the College of Southern Maryland on Wednesday, January 21st at 5pm.
