Statesmen Fall on the Road at Louisburg
SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA — Richard Bland College women's basketball dropped a road matchup at Louisburg College on Tuesday afternoon, falling 37-78 after a cold shooting day that proved difficult to overcome.
Louisburg jumped out early with a 22-point first quarter and carried a 12-41 lead into halftime. The Statesmen continued to battle through the second half, posting their strongest frame in the fourth with 19 points, but the early deficit proved too large to erase.
Arianna Zepeda led RBC with 12 points on 6-of-12 shooting, adding four rebounds and three steals. Leila Estrada provided an efficient spark off the bench, scoring nine points on 4-of-5 shooting, including the team's lone three-pointer. Ayjianna Bonapart, Jessica Reese, and Grace Riggs added four points apiece, while Hazel Veloz and Nyah Barnwell anchored the glass with the team-high, five rebounds each.
RBC finished 17-of-63 (27.0%) from the field, 1-2 (50.0%) from the perimeter, and 2-8 (25.0%) from the charity stripe.
Richard Bland (3-4 overall, 2-1 conference) returns to action at home on Wednesday, December 3rd against the Trojans of Fayetteville Technical Community College. The 5pm game is part of the "Guard The Grove" series, with the theme being a black out.
