Riggs Records Fourth Double-Double as Richard Bland Battles No. 6 CCBC Essex

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA — Richard Bland College women's basketball went head-to-head with nationally ranked No. 6 CCBC Essex on Saturday afternoon, falling 58-91 but receiving another standout performance from sophomore Grace Riggs, who delivered her fourth double-double of the season.

Riggs led the Statesmen with 22 points and 10 rebounds, continuing her strong early-season form and providing consistent interior scoring against one of the toughest opponents on the schedule. She shot 9-of-19 from the field and knocked down two threes, anchoring an RBC offense that worked to keep pace with the high-powered Knights.

Despite a slow start, the Statesmen showed fight throughout the afternoon. Jessica Reese added 11 points and five rebounds off the bench, while Ayjianna Bonapart contributed nine points, six rebounds, and four steals—one of the key sparks defensively for RBC. Keeva Heggins chipped in six points and seven boards, helping the Statesmen finish with 41 total rebounds.

The Knights used efficient shooting and a dominant third quarter to create separation after halftime, totaling 29 in the third frame.

Richard Bland (3-3 overall, 2-0 conference) returns to action tomorrow, Tuesday, November 25th at Louisburg College for a 5pm conference matchup with the Hurricanes.
