SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA — The Richard Bland College women's basketball team earned its first win of the 2025-26 season on Saturday afternoon, defeating the College of Southern Maryland 68-63 in a hard-fought road contest. The Statesmen improved to 1-2 overall with the victory.
After a slow start in the opening half, Richard Bland found its rhythm in the third and fourth quarters, outscoring the Hawks 43–39 over the final 20 minutes to pull away late. RBC's balance, resilience, and composure at the free-throw line were key in securing the win.

Freshman Nyah Barnwell added a strong inside presence with 11 points and 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season, while Keeva Heggins provided a spark from the perimeter, hitting three triples and finishing with 13 points.
Defensively, the Statesmen forced 17 steals, including four from Leila Estrada, who also chipped in 8 points and 3 assists. Arianna Zepeda contributed across the board with 6 points, 5 assists, and 6 steals, helping to set the tone on both ends of the floor.
