Track and Field Program Adds All-MEAC Performer Raeshon Smith to Coaching Staff

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA — Richard Bland College Athletics has announced the addition of Raeshon Smith to its Track and Field coaching staff, where he will serve as the program's Throws Coach.

Smith, a former multi-event athlete, brings both competitive experience and a strong track record of development at the high school level. A graduate of Highland Springs High School, he earned 3x All-Region and 2x All-State honors during his prep career.

He continued his career at Norfolk State University, competing in the shot put, hammer throw, discus, and javelin. Specializing in the hammer and shot put, Smith earned 1st Team All-MEAC honors in the hammer and 2nd Team All-MEAC recognition in the shot put during his collegiate career.

Smith began his coaching career in March 2023 at Clover Hill High School, where he quickly made an impact. During his time there, he developed three All-Region athletes and two All-State performers. His athletes also etched their names in the record books, setting the No. 1 and No. 2 all-time marks in the shot put in back-to-back seasons.

In 2025, Smith transitioned to Monacan High School as Head Coach. There, he continued to emphasize throws development, coaching an athlete to a state-level performance while helping another athlete improve from 43 feet to 50 feet—good for the No. 2 all-time mark in school history in the shot put.

With a proven ability to develop talent and elevate performance, Smith brings a strong focus on throws excellence as he joins the Statesman staff.
