Statesmen Battle to Scoreless Draw at Patrick & Henry

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA — The Richard Bland College Men's Soccer team fought to a hard-earned 0-0 draw against Patrick & Henry Community College on Friday afternoon. With the result, the Statesmen moved to 4-2-1 overall and 1-2-1 in Region 10 play.

The match was a defensive showcase from both sides, as neither team was able to break through despite generating multiple scoring opportunities. Richard Bland held the advantage in offensive pressure, firing 17 total shots — 13 of them in the second half — while placing eight on target. Patrick & Henry managed nine shots with three on frame.

Sophomore goalkeeper Owen Stahl anchored the Richard Bland back line with a flawless performance, recording six saves en route to his first clean sheet of the season.

Richard Bland also controlled set pieces, earning six corner kicks compared to the Patriots' two, but were ultimately unable to capitalize. The contest grew physical down the stretch, with four yellow cards issued — two apiece to each side.

The Statesmen will return home to Willcox Field on Monday, September 30^th to take on Region 10 rival Wake Technical Community College in their second meeting of the season. Kickoff is set for 2pm. This game will take part as one of the "Guard the Grove" games and will be a "White-Out" event. Wear your white and come out to support your Statesmen Men's Soccer team!
