SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA — The Richard Bland College Men's Soccer team saw its three-match winning streak come to an end Friday afternoon, dropping a 4-1 decision to Wake Technical Community College on the road. The result moves the Statesmen to 4-2 overall, 0-1 in conference play.
Wake Tech struck quickly in the first half, capitalizing to seize early control of the match. Despite a more settled effort after halftime, the deficit proved too much to overcome.
Freshman forward, David Viegas provided the lone highlight for RBC in the 65th minute, finding the back of the net with an unassisted finish. Goalkeeper Owen Stahl kept the match from widening further, recording five saves while playing the full 90 minutes.
The Statesmen generated pressure late with seven corner kicks, but were unable to convert additional chances into goals.
Richard Bland will look to bounce back on the road on Monday, September 15th, when they travel to Louisburg College. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00pm.
