Matthew Poma Expands Coaching Role at Richard Bland, Joins Men’s Soccer Staff While Continuing with Women’s Program

Will Continue as Assistant Coach for Women's Team, Joins Men's Staff Ahead of 2025 Season

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA — Richard Bland College Athletics has announced that Matthew Poma will take on an expanded role within the soccer program, continuing his position as Assistant Women's Soccer Coach while also joining the Men's Soccer staff as an Assistant Coach for the upcoming 2025 season.

Poma, who has been a valuable part of the Statesmen women's coaching staff, will now bring his experience and energy to both sidelines. His dual-role appointment reflects the department's confidence in his coaching acumen and ability to contribute to the continued development of both programs.

Poma has been instrumental in the progress of the women's program over the past season, helping develop a competitive squad that continues to rise in the NJCAA Region 10 rankings. His transition into assisting with the men's team comes as the program looks to build momentum heading into the fall.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to grow within the department and contribute to both programs," said Poma. "There's a lot of talent on both sides, and I'm excited to get to work with the men's team while continuing to support the incredible group we have with the women."

The Statesmen men's and women's soccer teams will open their 2025 campaigns in August, with preseason training getting underway tomorrow.
