RBC Athletics Names Terence Boone Inaugural Women’s Flag Football Head Coach

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA — Scott Newton, Richard Bland College Athletics Director, has announced the hiring of Terence Boone as the inaugural Head Coach of the Statesmen Women's Flag Football program. Boone brings more than 15 years of experience in athletic performance, coaching, and physical education to the new program.

Boone currently serves as the Head Football/Soccer Strength & Conditioning Coach and Assistant Football/Soccer Coach at Petersburg High School; positions he has held since 2021. In those roles, he has played a key part in developing strength and conditioning programs, mentoring student-athletes, and supporting team development both on and off the field.

In addition to his work in high school athletics, Boone has extensive experience in sports performance and fitness leadership. He previously served as Site Director for Explosive Performance at OneLife Fitness in Virginia Beach, where he recruited and mentored trainers, implemented advanced training methods, and oversaw program operations. Prior to that role, he was Assistant Fitness Director, where he conducted fitness assessments, developed individualized training plans, and organized programming designed to improve performance and member engagement. Boone also served as a Fitness Specialist with the Department of Defense MWR in Yorktown, planning and leading conditioning programs while assisting with facility operations and budgeting. He also gained collegiate experience as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Norfolk State University, where he worked with football and bowling programs.

"Coach Boone brings tremendous energy, experience, and a deep commitment to student-athlete development," said, AD Newton. "As we launch our women's flag football program, we are confident his background in performance training, coaching, and education will help build a strong foundation for success."

A graduate of Norfolk State University, Boone earned his bachelor's degree in Exercise Science and Health Fitness Physical Education. He is also a Virginia licensed Physical Education teacher and currently teaches Physical Education, Health, and Driver's Education in Petersburg City Public Schools, where he develops curriculum that promotes lifelong health, fitness, and safety. Boone holds multiple professional affiliations, including membership in the National Strength and Conditioning Association, the National Youth Sports Coaches Association, and the Commonwealth Football Coaches Association.

"I'm honored for the opportunity to lead the inaugural women's flag football program at Richard Bland College," said Boone. "This program is about creating opportunities for young women to compete, grow, and believe in themselves through the game. We're going to recruit fast, competitive athletes and build a culture based on consistency, integrity, and effort. I'm excited to build something special at Richard Bland College, from the ground up!"

The addition of women's flag football continues the growth of Richard Bland College Athletics and expands opportunities for female student-athletes to compete at the collegiate level. The inaugural season for Richard Bland College Women's Flag Football is scheduled to begin in Spring 2027, with recruiting and program development already underway. More information on the inaugural season and recruiting opportunities will be announced in the coming months.
