Fortnite Zero-Build Pair Wins NJCAAE Tier 3 Tournament in Inaugural Year
SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – On Monday evening, the Richard Bland College Esports 2v2 Fornite Zero-Build team came out victorious in the NJCAAE Tie 3 Post-Season Tournament. The Richard Bland pair consisted of sophomore, DeAndre Taylor and freshman, Jayden Robbins. The post-season tournament consisted of 18 teams from across 15, two-year colleges. The Statesmen were seeded 8th prior to the start of the tournament. The Statesmen began in round two of the five-round tournament due to the number of teams within the bracket. Each match was played to the best of five, and the results of each match are below:
Round 2: #8 RBC defeated #9 Lakeland Community College of Lake County, Ohio, 3-0
Round 3 – Quarterfinals: #8 RBC defeated vs 1 Northwest College of Powell, Wyoming, 3-1
Round 4 – Semifinals: #8 RBC defeated #5 SUNY Jefferson Community College of Watertown, New York, 3-2
Round 5 – Championship: #8 RBC defeated #6 Marshalltown Community College of Marshalltown, Iowa, 3-2.
At the conclusion of the regular season, the pair finished 10th overall out of 59 teams, playing five games and went undefeated in every game. This is a tremendous accomplishment for the Esports program in it's inaugural year, and the program looks to finish the season on top with the remaining title tournaments, that take place the rest of this week.
