Statesmen Bounce Back with Consolation Win After Late Pool Play Setbacks
SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA — Richard Bland College Beach Volleyball wrapped up day two of NJCAA National Championship pool play in Huntsville, Alabama, facing a challenging slate of top competition. The Statesmen struggled to find their rhythm throughout the day, dropping key matchups as they battled against some of the nation's strongest pairs.

Match 1: Richard Bland vs. Sandhills Community College: Flyers won 1-3.
Pair 1: Taelin Connolley and Daniela Sardina vs Elizabeth Bryson and Olivia Rosy 16-21, 16-21.
Pair 2: Gabrielle Meador and Rachel Pickens vs Katelyn Bunting and Reagan Malpass 21-18, 19-21, 7-15.
Pair 3: Rachelle Martin and Clara Coles vs Jaselyn Fink and Taylor Miller 21-7, 21-17.
Pair 4: Aliyah Millner and Kaylie Klemm vs Jacque Holden and Reagan Smith 21-19, 21-19.
Pair 5: Richard Bland College forfeit.
Match 2: Richard Bland vs. Lake Sumter State College: Lake Hawks won 0-3.
Pair 1: Taelin Connolley and Daniela Sardina vs Audrey Pickle and Ellison Saunders 17-21, did not finish due to match decision occurring first.
Pair 2: Gabrielle Meador and Rachel Pickens vs Sophia Cooper and Jenna Walker 13-21, 14-21.
Pair 3: Rachelle Martin and Clara Coles vs Mariana Comartin and Brooke Walker 21-19, did not finish due to match decision occurring first.
Pair 4: Aliyah Millner and Kaylie Klemm vs Rylinn Farkus and Moira Mangum 9-21, 10-21.
Pair 5: Richard Bland College forfeit.
After completion of pool play, the teams were re-seeded and Richard Bland came in as the No. 7 seed which dropped them into the consolation bracket. The Statesmen faced off against the No. 6 Flyers of Sandhills Community College once again.
Match 3: Richard Bland vs. Sandhills Community College: Statesmen won 3-2.
Pair 1: Taelin Connolley and Daniela Sardina vs Elizabeth Bryson and Olivia Rosy 21-18, 21-15.
Pair 2: Gabrielle Meador and Rachel Pickens vs Katelyn Bunting and Reagan Malpass 19-21, 22-20, 15-7.
Pair 3: Rachelle Martin and Clara Coles vs Jaselyn Fink and Taylor Miller 21-12, 21-14.
Pair 4: Aliyah Millner and Kaylie Klemm vs Jacque Holden and Reagan Smith 10-21, 17-21.
Pair 5: Richard Bland College forfeit.
Richard Bland next competes against No. 5 Trinidad State College, tomorrow, May 2nd at 12:45pm ET/11:45am CT, in their final match of the bracket. With a win, the Statesmen will secure a 5th place finish in the National Tournament.
