Beach Volleyball Sweeps Doubleheader Against Sandhills
SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA — The Richard Bland College Beach Volleyball team picked up a pair of victories over Sandhills Community College on Thursday winning the opening match 3-2 before securing a 4-1 win in the second match of the day.
In the first contest, the Statesmen earned wins at pairs one, four, and five to claim the 3-2 team victory. At the top flight, Taelin Connolley and Daniela Sardina set the tone with a straight-set win. Sandhills evened the match with victories at pairs two and three, but Richard Bland regained momentum in the lower flights. Rachelle Martin and Clara Coles delivered a decisive performance at pair four. The match-clinching point came from Kaylie Klemm and Aliyah Millner at pair five, who rebounded after dropping the first set.
Richard Bland carried that momentum into the second match of the day, earning a 4-1 victory. Connolley and Sardina once again led the way at the one pair. While Sandhills picked up its lone point at pair two, the Statesmen dominated the remaining courts. Gabrielle Meador and Averi Hawtin battled through a three-set thriller at pair three, rallying after a first-set loss. Martin and Coles added another three-set victory at pair four. Klemm and Millner capped the day with a straight-set win at pair five, securing the 4-1 result for the Statesmen.
