Statesmen Secure Doubleheader Sweep Over Sandhills
SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA — The Richard Bland College beach volleyball team delivered a dominant performance in its doubleheader against Sandhills Community College, sweeping the opening match before securing a narrow victory in the nightcap.
Richard Bland opened the day with a commanding 5-0 team win, controlling the momentum from the top of the lineup down. The No. 1 duo of Taelin Connolley and Daniela Sardina set the tone early, while strong, composed performances across the remaining flights secured the sweep. The Statesmen showcased depth and balance, with every pair contributing to the decisive result.
The second match proved to be much tighter, but Richard Bland once again rose to the occasion, earning a 3-2 victory. Connolley and Sardina remained unbeaten on the day at the top spot, and key wins from the No. 3 and No. 4 pairs ultimately clinched the team result. Even in the two narrow losses, the Statesmen battled point-for-point in a competitive showdown.
