Connolley and Sardina Stay Unbeaten at No. 1 in Battle with Southern Virginia
SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA — The Richard Bland College beach volleyball team dropped both matches of a doubleheader to Southern Virginia University, with the Knights claiming 1-4 victories in each contest.
In the opening match, the No. 1 pair of Taelin Connolley and Daniela Sardina secured the lone team point for the Statesmen. The duo battled to a straight-set win over Knights, 21-18, 22-20, showcasing composure in late-set situations. The No. 4 pair of Rachelle Martin and Clara Coles pushed their opponents to three sets before coming up just short, 21-18, 16-21, 15-17.
In the second match of the day, Connolley and Sardina once again delivered at the top spot, earning a 21-19, 21-17 victory to account for Richard Bland's point. Southern Virginia claimed the remaining four courts in straight sets, though several were tightly contested. Martin and Coles battled in a competitive 20-22 second set at No. 4, while Klemm and Millner forced a third set at No. 5 after taking the opening frame 21-19.
