SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, Va. -- Richard Bland College has been ranked No. 6 in this week's NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball Poll, the first poll of the regular season, as released Tuesday afternoon. The Statesmen are currently 8-2 overall, including 3-0 in Region 10, with three-straight wins against their region opponents. Richard Bland is idle this week for fall semester examinations before returning to action on the road at Region 10 member Guilford Technical (N.C.) Community College on Sunday, December 10, at 2 p.m. in Jamestown, North Carolina.
Richard Bland is down four spots from its preseason ranking of No. 2 after winning eight of its first 10 games this season, including two wins against NJCAA Division I schools. South Suburban (Ill.) College (10-1) is ranked No. 1 in this week's poll after being ranked No. 3 in preseason, while Southwestern (Iowa) Community College (9-2), last year's DII National Champion and preseason No. 1, dropped to No. 4 this week. Fellow Region 10 member Louisburg (N.C.) College (7-3) is No. 11 this week after being ranked No. 4 in preseason, while Region 10's Bryant & Stratton College (7-1) is ranked No. 16 after no preseason ranking.
